Florida Building Codes

Florida has some of the strictest building and roofing codes in the country, many of which were developed to protect building owners from excessive roof damage in the event of hurricanes. Each Florida roofing code approval is related to a certain installation condition and requires specific roofing installation techniques outlined in the approval documents. Florida has High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) and non-HVHZ building code approvals. Union has products and approvals for use in both types of areas.
